Group Therapy in Cork

Personal Development Groups in Cork
Purpose of the Group

This group therapy in Cork is an experiential process group designed for practising psychotherapists and individuals with substantial personal development experience who want to deepen their self-awareness and strengthen relational skills through direct, here-and-now learning.
The group focuses on present-moment relating—how we show up with others in real time—using the group experience itself as the primary space for learning, growth, and integration. As one of our personal development groups in Cork, the work supports deeper authenticity, clearer boundaries, and more conscious relationship patterns.

Group Ethos

We aim to offer a safe, supportive, and gently challenging environment where participants can meet one another at relational depth. The beliefs underpinning this personal development group in Cork include:

  • We are born relating. Much of our pain is acquired relationally, and therefore healing also happens relationally.
  • Each person is responsible for their own healing. Through encouragement, honest contact, and respectful challenge, members can be supported to take greater responsibility for themselves.
  • Insight and growth happen in community. Personal learning and change are often strengthened in a safe group environment where feedback, reflection, and support are available.

A Note on Process

In experiential group work, process and content are different.

  • Content is what we speak about—events, stories, and the words we use.
  • Process is the meaning underneath: how we communicate, how we impact others, what happens between us, and what our style of relating reveals.
  • Process work focuses on the how and why of communication as a gateway to understanding interpersonal patterns. This is a core element of group therapy in Cork and supports deeper relational awareness, emotional integration, and real change over time.

Entry Requirements

This group is open to accredited and pre-accredited therapists. Exceptions may be considered where an individual demonstrates a strong level of personal awareness and readiness for experiential group work.

Because this is group therapy in Cork with a strong experiential focus, it’s important that members are willing to:

  • take appropriate risks in disclosure and participation
  • engage directly in the group experience
  • offer challenge respectfully and receive challenge openly
  • give and receive feedback with care and responsibility

To support safety and continuity, regular attendance is essential and is a pre-requisite for participation.
